Bex is seeking two full time Line Cooks to ensure exceptional quality for catering & events operations in Califon Boro with opportunities for growth as the business grows. A successful candidate will be able to emulate our executive chef’s specifications and guidelines with the highest quality in a high volume capacity.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with keeping the kitchen running smoothly.
- Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations.
- Preparing food using recipes and menu items created by the Head Chef.
- Preparing food includes cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers and snacks.
- Plating prepared foods based on senior chef’s guidance
- Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and time schedule.
- Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts.
- Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
Requirements include:
- Ability to multitask in a high volume capacity with consistent quality reproduction of product.
- Ability to work varying shifts at multiple locations.
- Prior kitchen experience required, minimum of 2 years experience.
- Must have own transportation, pass a background check and have 2 current references.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
- Excellent record of kitchen and staff management. References required.
- Accuracy and speed to handle emergency situations and provide solutions
- Familiar with industry best practices
- Working knowledge of various computer programs (restaurant management software, nutritional labeling, point-of-sale etc.)
- BS degree in culinary science or related certificate not mandatory however a plus.
- Salary range $14 – $19 per hour.
